Subject:
Vote YES on HB2227
Draft Text:
Dear Senator,
I ask that you support HB2227, an important consumer protection bill that would require the BHCD to “consider” energy efficiency measures in new home construction, reducing utility costs to homeowners and tenants. This bill will help communities of color, low-income homeowners and renters who experience disproportionately high utility bills from poor energy efficiency.
The bill encourages the BHCD to take into account cost savings from energy efficiency as well as health benefits and emission reductions compared to any extra construction costs when adopting changes to Virginia's residential building code.
