Vote NO on SB1164

Draft Text:

Dear Delegate,

I ask that you vote NO on SB1164. This bill would exempt highly polluting plastic chemical conversion plants from being regulated as solid waste facilities. These plants, which are slated to be located in low-income and communities of color (including Buckingham County) release lead, arsenic, mercury, cadmium and other chemicals as well as volatile organic compounds. These plants should be regulated as solid waste facilities to ensure that potential air and water quality impacts as well as impacts to human health are properly addressed by our state regulatory bodies. This bill - pushed by the American Chemistry Council - is bad for Virginia.
