Committed to leading and coordinating efforts to seek justice in civil legal matters for lower income Virginians.
Virginia Poverty Law Center (VPLC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization committed to leading and coordinating efforts to seek justice in civil legal matters for low-income Virginians.
Since 1978, we’ve advocated on behalf of low-income Virginians, assisting state legal aid programs with legislative proposals that impact the poor as well as providing technical assistance, training, and resources in the following areas of law: consumer rights and protection, domestic and sexual violence, elder rights and resources, families, health, housing, and public benefits. Since our founding, we have been a clearinghouse of information on these issues.
For the better part of four decades, VPLC has consistently adhered to our mission: to advocate for access to civil justice and work to end systemic racism. By working with low-income Virginians and like-minded partners, we will continue to protect the rights of the marginalized among us.
