Question: Should the Constitution of Virginia be amended to allow the General Assembly to temporarily adopt new congressional districts to restore fairness in the upcoming elections, while ensuring Virginia’s standard redistricting process resumes for all future redistricting after the 2030 census?
NOTE (not on the ballot):
A "no" vote opposes allowing the state legislature to conduct congressional redistricting between January 1, 2025, and October 31, 2030.
FEB 19. A Virginia judge ruled the amendment to be unlawful on other grounds.
FEB 13. Supreme Court of Virginia greenlights redistricting referendum.
FEB 6. Governor Spanberger signed enabling legislation for the redistricting amendment.
FEB 4. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that California can use their new Democrat-friendly congressional map.
FEB 4. The Court of Appeals of Virginia forwarded the Tazewell redistricting case to the Virginia Supreme Court. The appeals court wrote that this case is of “such imperative public importance” that it requires a "prompt decision." (from Virginia Political Newsletter at 1:45pm)
JAN 29. Polls Looking Good for YES on Redistricting.
A poll released today shows "YES" ahead by 51% to 43%: While there are still some confusions to be clarified for both Republicans (who support "yes") and Democrats (who don't support "yes"), but the bottom line seems to be Trump's rapidly growing unpopularity is the KEY to BOOSTING the "YES" Vote.
VOTE YES!
