Update 2/17:

SB1043 'Reported' from the House Appropriations Committee and will soon be considered by the entire House.

Schools are in need of more mental health resources.

Mental Health resources do not meet the growing need in our public schools.

BACKGROUND

This bill (SB1043) passed the Senate and is now in the House Appropriations Committee.

There is a greater need for mental health education and resources now than there was before the pandemic. Anxiety, mental illness, and even suicides among students have increased, and the Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission of the General Assembly asks us to take action.

This bill will provide much needed resources to our public school students.
