One of the most publicized impacts of the pandemic was what some call “Learning Loss” due to students being forced to attend school online. The most heavily impacted students are those from low-income areas.
These students were the most vulnerable, many already behind when remote learning began, and who experienced about twice the learning loss than students from middle or high-income areas.
These impacts can be mitigated with early intervention services for reading and math and by providing more targeted attention in Individual Education Plans. These bills would provide improved Early Intervention and Individualized Education Programs.
